Training Description

In an active threat situation—whether in a business, school, church, public space, or other environment—quick decision-making and decisive action can mean the difference between life and death. This course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively to an active shooter or active attack event. Using CFR Defense’s proprietary DEFENSE survival strategy, participants will learn to assess the situation, take appropriate action, and increase their chances of survival. The training emphasizes developing a survivor’s mindset, improving situational awareness, and preparing for real-world threats.

  • Understanding Active Threat Events: Defining active shooter and active attack situations, common characteristics, and response challenges
  • Developing a Survivor’s Mindset: Mental preparedness, overcoming fear, and making rapid, life-saving decisions under stress
  • Situational Awareness and Threat Detection: Identifying pre-incident indicators, recognizing suspicious behaviors, and increasing environmental awareness
  • The DEFENSE Survival Strategy: CFR Defense’s step-by-step response framework—Detect, Evaluate, Flee, Evade, Neutralize, Stabilize, Evacuate
  • Prevention and Preparedness: Personal and organizational strategies for planning, training, and improving emergency readiness
